This is a very popular locals' hang out that also attracts a good following of expats. The outside suggests a more elegant venue than the beer hall-style operation within. There is a good bar, but that seems to be ignored in favour of the many bare wooden tables around the various areas.
The food comes from an extensive menu which is predominantly Thai, although there are a few farang dishes, including a pig hock, on offer.
Ad Makers is clearly a place to chill-out and there are plenty of private bottles of JW Black behind the bar as testament to the regulars' preferences. The music is normally provided by one of the better Bangkok bands playing good covers with a strong rock bias.

Just up the road from Bar Bu Ree, this is a biggish bar aimed at the Thai market. Music comes from a selection of bands, most of which play traditional songs for life, with a dribble of pop thrown in for good measure. The venue itself is reminiscent of a wild west bar (not unlike Dallas Pub in Siam Square) with a big wooden stage and simple tables dotted about the place. Beer is averagely priced (Bt140 for a large Heineken) with local sprits better value. Also offers a Thai menu.

A fabled jazz gig that's known around the world in the music business. In need of a little care and attention but serves up excellent jazz music from some fine musicians. Lito Jazz Band and Mefar Big Band are the current residents, with guest bands rotated weekly. The late nightly jazz session, beginning at around 11.00pm is worth going out of your way for. Small and intimate, it has hosted a number of international artists. Food and service, however can be slow, so a dinner of local specialities at Ma Mout Ma Mao, two shops down, is in order.

This enormous club on RCA is elegantly designed with sweeping staircases and two cavernous main rooms Flix and Slim. Flix spins banging house tunes from an impressive variety of residents like DJ's Zinderella, King Kong and the extremely talented DJ/Producer; Nu Tek, one of the few DJ's in Bkk who makes his own tunes!
Flix is adorned with a giant chandelier and chic furniture which whilst providing a beautiful setting does not leave sufficient room for dancing, a major oversight which impairs the atmosphere particularly on overcrowded Friday and Saturday nights. A very pleasant night is to be had on Wednesdays however with a nice sized crowd. Next door Slims residents play commercial Hip–Hop and R&B to a loyal, predominantly Thai crowd who pack themselves in like sardines over the weekends…
Get down early on weekends if you want a seat and table inside. If priority was given to space for dancing or a capacity limit enforced, this club could be far sweeter!
